INFO:
The principle of punch needle work is based on creating loops on fabric using a special hollow needle. Here’s how it works: Needle Construction Needle Design: A punch needle consists of a hollow tube through which the thread passes, and a pointed tip that pierces the fabric. Some needles have an adjustable length, allowing you to change the height of the loops. Threading the Needle The thread passes through a hole in the handle of the needle, then through the hollow tube, and exits through the tip. Piercing the Fabric Hold the needle vertically and push it into the fabric. The thread passes through the needle and stays in place, forming a loop on the backside of the fabric. Creating Loops After each piercing, when you pull the needle back, the thread remains as a loop on the front side of the fabric. The length of the needle determines the height of the loop. Repeating the Process Continue piercing the fabric along the pattern outline, creating a sequence of loops. This forms a textured pattern. Securing the Threads Due to the tight interlacing of threads and fabric, the loops remain in place and do not unravel. For additional security, you can use glue or secure the threads on the backside. This technique allows for the creation of raised and textured patterns, making it popular for producing rugs, pillows, and decorative panels.
